The Hospital in Poltava Oblast received advanced neurosurgical system for complex surgeries

PrivatBank provided emergency assistance to the Poltava region under the programme ‘Emergency donation: Assistance to Hospitals and Medical Institutions of Ukraine’. This time, in addition to the always-needed vacuum machines, one of the supporting hospitals received a world-class intraoperative monitoring system - a total of UAH 4,000,000 worth of equipment and consumables.

This system is used for operations on the brain, spinal cord and nerve endings and helps the surgeon to see where the nerves run and avoid accidental damage during surgery. This helps prevent a number of complications, such as loss of sensation or motor function, making the operation much more effective.

‘Today, this system is used in Ukraine only in a few medical centres where highly complex neurosurgical interventions are performed. We are grateful to PrivatBank for bringing such equipment to the Poltava region. For us, this is a big step forward and, given the tragedies of the past month, an extremely urgent need. In September, we had two serious patients. After the shelling of the city, a victim with spinal injuries and spinal cord damage needed help. Without this system, it would have been almost impossible to provide truly effective care with good chances of rehabilitation. Another patient was waiting with a complex brain tumour. In addition to the fact that we were able to perform these operations at all, their results are excellent,’ says the head of the neurosurgical department at Poltava Region Hospital.

You can support the programme by making a donation using any of PrivatBank's services: the Dobro menu in Privat24, the Charity menu in ATMs and self-service terminals, and through the website dobro.privatbank.ua, where you can also read reports on the Fund's work.

We are getting things done!
